Sen. Darline Graham won South Carolina’s Republican Senate runoff Tuesday, defeating Rep. Ralph Norman and handing President Donald Trump another victory for his endorsed candidate.
The Associated Press called the race for Graham, who is seeking a full term in the seat previously held by her late brother, longtime Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.
Graham, 62, will face Democrat Annie Andrews in November and enters the general election as the favorite in heavily Republican South Carolina. Democrats have not won a U.S. Senate race in the state since 1998.
The victory also demonstrates Trump’s continued influence among Republican primary voters. He endorsed Graham and traveled to South Carolina on Friday to campaign alongside her.
