A prosecutor in New York Attorney General Letitia James’s office accused his supervisors of directing him to target President Donald Trump and affiliated individuals and companies first, then search for crimes afterward.
Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld reportedly sent an agency-wide email on Friday to blow the whistle on the order.
Wiesenfeld is alleging that his supervisor instructed him “to find and pursue crimes committed by specific individuals and organizations affiliated with Donald Trump.”
According to the Times Union, which obtained the message, Wiesenfeld said Investor Protection Bureau chief Shamiso Maswoswe directed him to investigate targets including “Trump himself, Truth Social, Hewlett Packard (DOJ approved merger) … without having a credible reason for targeting this organizations and individuals.”
The email was reportedly sent to hundreds of employees across the attorney general’s office.
However, the email was swiftly deleted from the agency’s servers.
Wiesenfeld then sent a follow-up message warning colleagues against using the office to pursue James’s political enemies.
